    Before my experience at a newspaper, I didn’t appreciate that local dailies are an important source of news. The Associated Press isn’t omnipresent. Local reporters share events in their communities, even if it’s just Coastal Cleanup Day or a Pro Football Hall of Famer visiting the community college. These stories clearly matter to local readers and sometimes they spread nationally too.

    I agree with everything you stated — from newly-exciting early-morning paper deliveries to meeting the challenge presented by deadlines to the distinctive flavor of newsprint (not literally, of course) — and I love the video post.

    I am totally addicted to newswriting at the moment.
